Background
Tom Cheaney was born and raised in Gainesville, Texas. He married his wife, Carrie, in 2007. They have two children, Bradley and Emily.
Favorite Things
Tom enjoys spending time with his wife and kids. He enjoys hiking in state parks and other interesting places that automobiles can't go. Tom is a fan of almost every sport but his favorite has always been basketball. He has officiated high school and junior high basketball in Texas since 2019.
Work Experience
Tom is currently the Controller for Group CBS. The Group of Circuit Breaker Sales companies is owned by private equity and is headquartered in Texas with 11 operational entities that have locations throughout the USA. Group CBS provides products and services to the industrial, utility, electrical distribution, and repair markets.
From 2009 to 2018, Tom started as an Accountant and worked up to the position of Financial Controller at Zodiac Seats US, a global manufacturing company that produces commercial aircraft seats. Prior to his time at Zodiac Aerospace, Tom gained valuable experience in financial services & banking as a Loan Officer for NASCOGA Federal Credit Union from 2005 to 2008.
The Cheaney family has had a saddle maker in every generation dating back to at least 1850. Tom studied the art of saddle making under the direction of his father, Bruce, who is a 5th generation saddle maker that also makes bits and spurs. Tom credits this experience for giving him a sincere appreciation for attention to detail and quality of work in every endeavor.
